Drainage Drawings & Specifications

CARA owners may have need, on occasion, to identify the drainage arrangements for their property. Drainage plans for Cerne Abbas are accessible on micro-fiche, at no cost, at the Dorchester Records Office (parking is available close by, but at a price). You will be asked to register at the Records Office and to provide identification (e.g. a driving license) before accessing their records.  Recent experience of one of our owners is that the records are not conveniently organised for visitors. You will need to ask for all records for The Avenue (not just No. 46) and also have some ideas of the years of interest – relating to when your property was built. You will then need to manually scan the fiche provided, using the fiche reader, and print copies on paper of any plans of interest at the desired magnification (the plans are large and the copy option is A4 paper size only). The copies cost 50p per A4 page. As it can take quite some time to find the pages of interest, it is recommended that at least a half-day is allowed for record search and copying.

A set of copied drawings for Phase 1 and Phase 2 (kindly provided by one of our previous owners) is attached in pdf format to provide other owners with the Cerne Abbas drainage information available in the Dorchester Records Office. It is by no means certain that these are the most recent and complete copies available as all of the available Cerne Abbas drawings may not have been viewed by the owner who provided them. Although these copied drawings are marked as “conditionally approved”, they also mention that some drainage positions “…could be agreed on site”   CARA takes no responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of the drainage drawings included on this web page. In identifying which drawing may relate to your own property, note that the site numbers of the properties shown on the drawings correspond to actual house numbers up to No. 12 and that thereafter (because there is no 13 Cerne Abbas) the actual house numbers are one greater than the site number on the drawing.
